1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8th Alt coin thread. Or what to do now that asics are all over the place. on: May 21, 2018, 11:08:48 AM
The way the market is now there will always be a coin that be mined for a profit.
There is way to much money to lose if there is not one available.
But i do agree with phil that we are about to see coins fall.
The mother tree of crypto can only hold so many before it falls.

Just a question for you guys with more experience than me

When (if) GPUs dies, like in the past, everyone will suffer to?

Programmers like Claymore
Programmers like the ones who made SMOS, ETHOS etc
Small and Medium Miners
Gamers

This is very complex economic question.

The short answer is pain to many that did not understand to diversify.
The long answer is really hard to give.

I see gpus this way.

how many
1080ti
1080
1070ti
1070
1060
1050
1050ti

rx580
rx570
rx560

rx480
rx470
rx460

answer  many millions of them.

Killing them off  kills off millions that would mine small scale.

Absolute moron move of greed.

But and here is the big but how to keep them alive?

Raven maybe.

ALGO-of- the-month coin   is my new idea.

this new coin switches every month to a new algo.
the developer launches coin with 36 algos ready to drop for 36 months in a row.

this makes the coin asic proof for sure.
it makes the coin fpga resistant .

the two players that would want to make a coin like this would be  AMD AND NVIDIA

Will we see it I have no idea.  But I am holding on to 18x 1080tis just incase we do.

the best moves for a companies like amd and nvidia would be to make a coin
they could control the market and make tons of money with keeping small miners able to mine at the same time
why they havent done this yet baffles me but hey what do i know vs a finance major

Anyone here mess with mining rig rental website?
Seems interesting but I havent touched it yet to see how it works

If I haven't shared this before, my entire ASICS farm management is based on MRR.

But..... I don't use it to rent my rigs at all... (ie. set it to OFFLINE/NOT AVAILABLE FOR RENTAL)

My main purpose of using MRR is global proxy nodes (instead of setting up a proxy server at ISP side).

In the MRR central dashboard, I can monitor total hash, pools management, charting etc.

Downside: I lose the monitoring of individual rigs at ISP side. I am testing "anselal/antminer-monitor" for the S9 farm, since I have Teamviewer & VPN access to my ASICs at Cryptoboreas, GND and another ISP in Asia Pacific. As for the Avalons A721/A821/A841, these miners behave themselves quite well. I have to babysit the S9s more often.

The L3+s, D3s and other ASICs (Pinidea, Baikal) are also managed by MRR proxy nodes.

The GPU farms, do not use MRR yet since its hosted in my own private warehouse - 15mins drive from my house, and I can directly manage it easily.

It interests me because you can rent and mine on down time

When it comes to mining dont just mine one coin..

Also if you want to make a little more trade cryptocurrencies
Use bollingbands buy at the bottom sell in the middle make that one or two percent
Medved is a trading platform that can connect to gdax(coinbase) and Binance if I remember correctly

Well I had a fun day yesterday..

Got a telegram alert that All my systems went down.
So I take a trip over there which is only like 10mins.
When I get there I notice the dsl box next to road..
Its in about million pieces. So Im like oh shit we had a thunderstorm
Come through Florida last night. I run inside start checking everything.
So I find plastic pieces everywhere of what was my modem/router..
I dont know how but only the modem was taken in the storm.
Here was the fun part.. trying to convince CenturyLink my internet provider
That their dsl box was destroyed and it took the modems with it. After a two
Hour phone call. They finally sent someone out to check on it and see what the
Problem was. So the technician said he thinks the problem is the dsl box by the road ..
So I laugh the tec laughs and amazons Alex laughs... so everything is all good again..

here is my question...

its been a hard one for me to figure out.

should i join the asic side of mining?

Hard question.

easy short answer is yes.

be an inclusionist  <  not sure it is a word  but how about be diverse .

Down side  hot loud break easy  bitch to fix.

are you near a myrig/bitmainwarranty location  they are somewhat okay on repair.

I have next to zero basics right now.
60gb in side hack usb sticks
32mh in jestanop usb sticks
coming in
1 bitmain L3+
1 dragon mint an if I like 4 more

that will be the power cap

28 1080ti's
and the 16 gpu beast will do the gpu end.

what is next just mine and hold until the fall.

hard pick for me.
i would like 3 ltc miners and 3 btc miners but its hard for me to drop that money on miners that cant be fixed nor resold easily
i want more than just gpu miners but i love the resell of video cards

also i thought about going back to nice hash with all my miners any input would be awesome

any thoughts on that would be nice

We might be interested in 6-8 of them, but unless someone organizes a group buy to reach that 500 number.... we're not a big enough operation to even think of quantities that large.  How long of a wait would this be if an order was placed? I presume that production time, shipping, etc... would be a couple of months?

30 days to ready in Hong Kong. Add 2 weeks for shipping. My hosting clients is probably going for 500-700 combined if next gen isn't out when my new factory is ready. I will have 50-100 for sale, $145 + paypal fee +  shipping. If that happens I will pm you.

It also depends on the 1060 price in 2 months. If it's closer to msrp, might be better to go 1060s.

I will reserve 16 pieces, for 2 x 8GPU rigs. I need to do testing before committing a bigger number.

can anyone share the link to this page for the gpus?

Will pm you if cards arrive.

There is no page for it, but anyone who is interested may pm me. Earliest time we can confirm order is after GTC end march, and that's if Nvidia does not announce launch date for next gen.

Sorry for thread hijack.

please do!!
if they do come in would like to grab 5-10 for tests

First question is, what does the 20Amps derated mean to 30amps PDU's?
I am looking to see if I can run 4 rigs on a 30amp PDU from my Dryer connection. I live in an apartment and I have no other of changing anything, so I'm sacrificing my washer and dryer, I can do laundromats.

Second question would be general, what advice would anyone give as to how I can keep my earnings at the 1/3 ratio in terms of cost of running to profits? What should I look for, what should I aim for and what strategy would be best to use when trying to achieve this.

FYI..my electricity cost $0.13/KwH and also this is what my full time job is now since I started late last year, my goal is to try and aim for Hodling 60% of my earnings and creating a portfolio in different cryptos I have faith in, because when regulations start to hit the crypto world not all of the cryptocurrencies would be here. So apart from Hodling 60%, they rest 40% I want to go back in cost of operation, expansion and my day to day runnings.

Any ideas and advice, reads and suggestions are very much welcomed. Good to have found this thread, would go look for others in the series.

First question: On a 30amp pdu with a 30amp breaker you need to keep everything within that 20-24 amps or 80%. Anything more youll have a high chance of overloading the breaker and pdu

Second question:  I am running 23 rx470 cards with 1500 strap mod on a 1050/1800 (core/memory) the cards run around 23-26 mhs mining ether at ethermine.org https://ethermine.org/miners/31C1C0Fec59CEB9cBe6ec474C31C1DC5B66555B6 with that i bring in around .05 ether per day. my monthly power bill for the cards runs in the 220-300$ range mostly depends on outside temps in florida

you can put 24-26 cards on a 30 amp breaker safely
now heat ill be an issue so make sure you have somewhere for the heat to go
its winter right now so its nice but summer is coming...
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: January 24, 2018, 03:13:59 PM

... My goal is to get to just these 2 rigs...

Curious WHY the firesale, I have never been good at knowing when to sell, is it now?

Its income tax time in America so its always a good time to sell anything

@cintronick - Help me understand how to choose a pool, please.  You mention Nannopool, but for some silly reason I chose Flypool.

Is it generally better to look for pools that have LESS or MORE workers?

I use Nanopool for XMR and ZEC if I want to mine direct -- otherwise the farm will sell hash at NH.

Nanopool is quite good because its has global nodes and can select nodes closest to my rigs.

So far so good... and the interface and reporting is quite accurate too.

I am sure Flypool is ok too - tried it once but I didn't stay long -- maybe they were too new at that time.

Definitely go for pools that has MORE workers -- its sad to see good pools struggling to get blocks.

Need to maximize your hash power, so a good pool needs awesome pool hashpower and plenty of blocks.

Flypool and ethermine have been around awhile and they have been stable reliable
I want to go back to nicehash but mining ethereum directly right now is nice for me
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: January 05, 2018, 04:41:29 PM
I hope these dont become as hard to get as the ASIC miners.

they went way up   in May + June of 2017

I have 3 on order

msi 1080ti seahawk hybrid
zotac 1070 mini

evga 1080 hybrid

and one on rma

msi 1070 waterblock only seahawk

that is about 2000-2200 sols

my cards are really doing well

6200 usd a month plus 2260 usd for partners

- 500 for power

or 5700 for me net  not counting asic mining and not counting odd ball mining

So 7000 a month maybe a little more. last 2 months

don't know how long it will last.

I would love to 5 months  at 7000 a month

Holy crap! Do you actually cash that out or do you let the coins pile up?

I fully paid all cards and purchased more.

I have like 60 cards mostly 1080 tis

Many people have 90 to 300 cards on this thread

In June once the building is built and finished
Im going to be adding 200 more cards
All paid off with the past two years of savings and increases in value of eth/btc

I hold more eth than btc nowadays

Anyone here using nicehash wallet to coinbase wallet??

Would like to know how its going
Works fine for me.

If I keep hearing this I might switch back
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: When to install GPU drivers if going to use SMOS on: January 04, 2018, 06:16:13 PM
SMOS is ready to go once you flash the drive
You dont need to install anything
Just make sure you email the text file on the drive before you pop it in
Then from smOS dashboard setup the rig and youll be good to go

With 1080tis I set 200 power limit 68 temp 50% fan speed 150 core 500 mem
I know you have 1070tis I was just giving an example of what I run

Good luck and happy mining!

anyone use a hardware wallet?? if so which one.

also anyone got a suggestion on a software wallet for tons of coins for safe holding?

HW wallet, I use Trezor - basic but its simple to use and most secure.
Ledger Nano S supports more alts coins
Desktop wallet, Exodus and Eden
Mobile wallet, Coinomi

Try out the rest too and see which ones are suitable for your day to day use.

Most of my daily crypto activities are done mainly in Gemini, Bittrex, Binance and Kucoin
Then long term stash at Trezor, short term Exodus & Eden

Does the Trezor support altcoins also
I dont need everyone under the sun just the basic

BTC, BCH, LTC, ETH, ETC, BTG, DASH and ZEC

Ledger Nano S has more alts

Exodus/Eden .... so many!

I use jaxx at the moment
But I hear a lot about exodus is it good??
Ill probably grab the Trezor it looks promising
